JLL acquires Novo Interior to further strengthen its Tétris capability in Portugal

Strong continued international growth in JLL’s Tétris business

JLL has acquired Novo Interior, the specialist Lisbon-based retail property fit-out company, to further strengthen its Tétris business which continues to record strong growth and client demand across 14 countries in Europe, Africa and South America. Novo Interior has an international retailer clientele and a highly regarded 15-year track record which fits neatly with growth plans for Tétris in the retail property design and fit-out sector across Europe, as well as complementing JLL’s broader EMEA Retail real estate services offer.

Novo Interior’s strong reputation and extensive experience – the company is particularly known for luxury retail space fit-outs – provides an ideal match alongside the existing Tétris capabilities in Portugal which are primarily focused on the office sector, while also expanding into hotel, logistics and industrial projects.

Pedro Lancastre, managing director of JLL Portugal, said: “Tétris and Novo Interior are culturally and strategically aligned, sharing the same core business model and highly complementary values and methods, which makes this combination a logical growth step for both companies.  The acquisition also adds considerable further capability to the wider Tétris business across Europe, in particular by allowing the sharing of specialist expertise gained within the luxury retail sector.”

João Marques, director of Novo Interior, added: “We believe this merger will greatly benefit both companies, enabling us to combine our knowledge and strengths in the Portuguese market with the powerful international platform of JLL.  With this union, we will reinforce our technical capabilities and gain international scale, which will help the ongoing growth of the excellent client relationships that are always at the heart of our business.”

After a short transitional period, Novo Interior will operate under the Tétris brand and relocate into the JLL office in Lisbon.  Following this acquisition, Tétris now employs 27 people in Portugal, part of JLL’s 90-strong team which now becomes the country’s largest commercial real estate services business.  The new combined Tétris team will be led by João Marques, founder of Novo Interior, with the support of João Silva as production manager and Carlos Cardoso as sales manager.
